Position Summary
Karius is searching for a Sr. Manager, Biostatistics to join our newly formed Clinical Data Science team. We are looking for an experienced biostatistician who is passionate about using data from observational (retrospective and prospective) and interventional studies to further our knowledge of the interaction between human health and microbial cell free DNA.

As a Sr. Manager, Biostatistics you will ensure the timely delivery of quantitative projects, including strategy, methods, quality, and stakeholder management. You will collaborate with Clinical Development, Scientific Discovery, Commercial Affairs, and Analytics to develop and carry out rigorous evaluations of scientific hypotheses using clinical, administrative, and molecular data.

Reports to:    Director, Clinical Data Science

Location:    Redwood City, CA

Primary Responsibilities
•  In partnership with the Director, Clinical Data Science, lead and manage projects and resources in the execution of statistical analyses of clinical and molecular data including initiating projects, overseeing execution, performing quality review, and leading cross-team communications.
•  Designs research studies intended to address clinical biomarker and health economic outcomes research using a range of statistical methods.
•  Advises on study protocols, statistical analysis or other project implementation plans in collaboration with clinical development, scientific discovery, commercial, and product teams to address research questions and objectives.
•  Identifies and advises on appropriate data including from literature, databases, interviews and/or surveys using scientifically valid methods.
•  Advises quality assurance and quality control procedures.
•  Produces technical reports, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and presentations.

Physical Requirements 
Subject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is generally performed in an office environment.

Position Requirements
•  Master’s degree in a discipline related to biostatistics: statistics, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, computational biology, applied math, or genomics.
•  A minimum 4 years of relevant research experience.
•  Knowledge of biomedicine, with additional expertise in diagnostic testing and/or infectious diseases, preferred.
•  Technical ownership within a consulting organization, academia, or industry.
•  Deep understanding of the application of biostatistical methods (e.g modeling, observational research, statistical programming), preferred.
•  Experience leading quantitative research projects to completion, preferred.
