Position Summary
Karius is at an extremely exciting stage of the company’s growth and development of our corporate strategy. We are seeking a talented Project Manager / Sr. Project Manager to join our team and integrate our distinct clinical, product, technology and commercial strategic plans into our company’s strategic planning. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative and influential in pulling together multi-stakeholders to align on strategic initiatives.

Location:  Redwood City, CA  

Primary Responsibilities
•  Partner cross-functionally to harmonize the organization’s core portfolio assets including clinical development, product & technology development, and research projects with the company strategy.
•  Day-to-day planning, coordinating and tracking of critical activities to keep projects on schedule.
•  Manage cross-functional teams and drive timelines while establishing clear and transparent deliverables.
•  Partner with the CEO in leading the leadership team and company with our strategic framework objectives, goals and deliverables. Optimize teams’ effectiveness and decision making, facilitate team building and communication, while ensuring a focus on key goals and milestones.
•  Schedule, organize, and drive project team meetings: prepare and distribute agendas/minutes; track action items.
•  Continuously monitor and identify risks, remove project obstacles and develop solutions.
•  Act as the main point of contact on timelines and provide updates to the CEO and leadership team. Manage the interfaces between functional areas and ensure effective handoff and communication between department functions to execute on important project milestones.
•  Enhance the project management capabilities throughout the organization by coaching functional project leads. Inspire and motivate the team to achieve team project objectives.
•  Establish and maintain project schedules and other tracking tools to enable accurate project management across various functional areas.
•  Support the CEO in additional projects, as assigned.

Physical Requirements
Subject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is generally performed in an office, lab or clinical environment. 

Position Requirements
•  A minimum of a BA/BS in a scientific discipline required, an advanced degree (Ph.D., MS, MD), a plus. 
•  Project Management Certification (or equivalent), preferred. 
•  5 years of multidisciplinary experience in the clinical diagnostics, medical device, or pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry, with 3 years of direct project management experience.
•  Experience with diagnostic assay development, a plus.
•  Expertise using collaboration tools such as Smartsheet, Jira, and Confluence.
•  Ability to understand and communicate scientific and business elements associated with the diagnostic area(s) of projects.
•  Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop relationships  with key stakeholders.
•  Ability to facilitate discussions with opposing views and conflict management.
•  Strong communication skills (in person and written word) and the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals.
•  Proven ability to proactively identify risks, opportunities and make recommendations to resolve issues.
•  Proven success in goal setting, prioritization and time management.
•  Experience in driving project plans and timelines across multiple functional areas.
