Position Summary
The Manager/Sr. Manager of Technical Accounting conducts technical research and accounting documentation over complex areas such as revenue analysis and recognition, stock-based compensation arrangements, and other programs. The Manager/Sr Manager of Technical Accounting manages the general accounting and revenue functions, and partners with Clinical Affairs to monitor and track accruals of clinical studies. The ideal candidate will develop working relationships with cross-functional partners and various levels of management.

Location:    Redwood City, CA
Responsibilities Include
- Ensure timely identification of significant and complex accounting issues.
- Research new and existing accounting standards and document in technical memos as needed.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of journal entries and financial reports in accordance to US GAAP.
- Review all financial account reconciliations to ensure their timely completion for month-end close.
- Review monthly billing invoices and record revenue and commission entries.
- Interacts successfully with external auditors and supports month-end, quarter-end, interim and year-end audits by providing timely & accurate data and communication.
- Champion process and system improvement efforts to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assist in establishing and maintain a strong internal operational controls environment.
- Assist in other areas relevant to financial reporting and technical accounting as needed.
Travel: No travel required.
Physical Requirements
- Subject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is generally performed in an office, lab or clinical environment.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred.
- 8+ years of accounting experience in fast growth company.
- Experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry a plus.
- Requires in depth knowledge of US GAAP and general accounting policies and procedures.
- Hands-on experience in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings (10-Q and 10-K) a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel and Word) required.
