The Head of BioPharma is responsible for leading the business development function within Karius’ commercial team, with a specific focus on identifying and establishing relationships with pharmaceutical companies. You will be one of the key business builders, out meeting potential customers, sharing the platform and capabilities and building relationships for collaborations with Karius for drug development and commercialization.  You will use your existing network to share the use and applications of cfDNA based sequencing. You’ll make new connections through networking, introductions, conference attendance and other creative approaches.

You Will:
·      You either have extensive business development experience, a strong science background, or both.
·      For strong science backgrounds, you have a deep understanding of genomics, targeted therapies and an entrepreneurial track record, and you wish to deploy your expertise in industry.
·      If your path to date has been in business development, you have deep experience in biopharma, sequencing or diagnostics, ideally a combination of all three. You’ve developed and closed successful collaborations, and brought in repeat business from multiple customers.
·      You have experience managing and growing teams, developing the best in people.
·      You can successfully build relationships with biopharma customers. You can tease apart customers’ needs and motivations, and can successfully influence them. You have strong presentation skills, and have a good strategic and analytic skill set too.
·      You have a deep understanding of biopharma, infectious disease, diagnostics, genomics and clinical trials. You are a go to person for insights into the science, medicine and competitive landscape.
·      You are entrepreneurial and self-starting, pro-actively chase opportunities, but also work with the team to bring the best of the company to a customer.
·      You are motivated to grow the business, not just your patch, and see the broader team succeed. You can prioritize and focus on the important, not just the urgent.

You Bring:
·      Highly motivated, results-driven individual with entrepreneurial drive and a strong track record of success
·      B.A. or B.S., and an advanced degree, MBA, MD or Ph.D.
·      5+ years medical or pharma/diagnostic business development
·      Strong desire to own the product, from crafting the strategy to rolling up your sleeves and executing the tactics
·      Experience leading cross-functional teams
·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·      Highly organized and detail oriented
·      Some travel within the US and internationally  for meetings, trainings, and conferences
·      Diagnostic experience highly preferred
·      Infectious disease experience preferred
